Blessed Carlo Acutis: Headed for Sainthood

On May 23, 2024, Pope Francis formally recognized a second miracle attributed to Blessed Carlo Acutis, paving the way for him to be declared a saint.

Though he was only 15 years old in October, 2006, when he passed away from leukemia, Acutis had already led a life of extraordinary devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Having shown a deep love for God from an early age, he loved to recite the rosary and attended daily Mass, inspiring his parents to attend with him.

Acutis was a typical teen in that he enjoyed distractions like video games but he was also careful to limit the amount of time spent on entertainment. He allowed time to help meet the needs of the homeless since he believed everyone should be treated with the dignity given to them by their Creator. He volunteered at a soup kitchen and encouraged his family to donate sleeping bags to those without homes.

Carlo Acutis is also known for building a website database to document more than 100 Church-approved Eucharistic miracles. He believed that by sharing the scientific evidence, it would help to open eyes, inspire belief in the real Presence of Jesus, and encourage others to return to the Catholic faith.
