An Hour With Series Adds Popular Priest and Author: Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

For more than 20 years Liguori Publications has shared the prayers, reflections and ministry of Catholic luminaries through the “An Hour With” series of parish pamphlets. The latest addition to the library features one of the 20th century’s best known prelates.

An Hour With Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen provides insights into the life and spirituality of a powerful orator, award-winning television and radio personality, gifted educator, best-selling author and worldwide missionary.

Archbishop Sheen belonged to God, whom he adored, loved, and served ceaselessly. His devotion to God and Church is an honorable example for all to emulate.

Sheen was born in central Illinois in 1895 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1919. He hosted The Catholic Hour radio broadcast for more than 20 years, prior to launching his famous TV show, Life is Worth Living, which still is available in reruns to this day. He was national director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith until 1966 and he authored more than 60 books.

Fulton Sheen died on December 9, 1979. Pope Benedict XVI declared Fulton Sheen “venerable” in June of 2012.

“Prayer is an opportunity to let in what would otherwise be left out. Air is there if we breathe, light is there if we open our eyes, and the gifts we receive from Heaven depend on our trust. Prayer opens possibilities.” - Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
