John the Baptist

John lived at the same time as Jesus. Before he was born, the angel Gabriel proclaimed that God had a special mission for him. He became a great prophet who preached that people should get ready for the Messiah who was coming soon. He baptized people at the Jordan river and became known as John the Baptist. His story teaches us how the sacrament of Baptism gives us the gifts of God’s grace, life, and love.
