John Bosco was a kind and cheerful priest who worked with wayward boys and gave them a sense of purpose and hope. He treated the boys with respect and taught them right from wrong. In 1859 he founded the Salesians for the education of boys. John Bosco is the patron saint of young boys, Catholic publishers, and laborers. His feast day is January 31.

This book is part of the Saints for Families collection from the Saints and Me! series of children's books (for ages 4-9). Books featured in this collection can be ordered separately or as a set (A00064).

  • Anthony of Padua: Wonder Worker
  • Thérèse of Lisieux: Little Flower of Love
  • Joachim and Anne: Love for Generations
  • Gerard Majella: Guardian of Mothers
  • Thomas More: Faith-Filled Father
  • John Bosco: Champion of Youth

Available separately, a companion Saints for Families Activity Book provides coloring pages and activities related to the saints. With 96 reproducible pages, the book makes a great resource for teachers, catechists, and parents to use over and over again. Children can relive the stories and learn by participating in word searches that contain words from the stories, coloring pages that have pictures from the stories, and reflective material on the saints as role models. This is an excellent way to introduce the saints to children, helping them to understand virtue and the desire to live a holy life.
