“Make disciples of all nations” Matthew 28:19

From the first gathering of the disciples by Jesus, we were called to spread the gospel. “I will make you fishers of men” (Mark 1:17). Events in the twenty-first century have taught us that there is also a need for dialogue and mutual understanding among representatives of the great religions of the world. The New Testament encourages Christians to engage in both missionary activity (evangelization) and dialogue (mutual understanding). In this Catholic Update, author Daniel J. Harrington, S.J. provides examples of how Jesus encourages both evangelization and dialogue in the New Testament.
