Women of the Old Testament

Pía Septién has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a Master's Degree in Theological Studies and a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry from The University of Dallas. For more than 5 years she has given classes for the Catholic Biblical School of the Diocese of Dallas and Tyler. She has authored the books Women of the Old Testament and Women of the New Testament. She is currently the Director of Continuing Education and an Instructor of the Catholic Biblical School at the University of Dallas.

Pía Septién obtuvo su licenciatura en Administración de Empresas por la Universidad Anáhuac en la Ciudad de México, maestría en Estudios Teológicos y Certificación en Administración Pastoral por la Universidad de Dallas. Ha dado clases desde el año 2006 hasta el presente en la Escuela para los Ministerios de la Universidad de Dallas en el programa de la Escuela Bíblica Católica, en la formación diaconal de la Diócesis de Dallas y de Tyler y en el Programa del Certificado en Teología Pastoral. Ella es la autora de los libros Mujeres del Antiguo Testamento y Mujeres del Nuevo Testamento. Actualmente es Directora de Educación Continua e Instructora de la Escuela Bíblica Católica en la University of Dallas.

Pía Septién creates ten vivid portraits of the lives of women of the Old Testament. Her overriding concerns are evident in each chapter: the human dignity of each woman created in God’s image and likeness; and the virtues they exemplify in facing various challenges and threats to their dignity. In a contemporary culture which presents similar threats to the dignity of so many people who “don’t count,” Professor Septien’s considerations of each Old Testament figure provide multiple avenues of reflection for individuals and groups, and practical ways of responding to the call of the gospel to respect and uphold the dignity of all people created in God’s image and likeness.
