In every election, we have to ask ourselves “For whom shall I vote?” and “How does my vote reflect my moral and ethical beliefs?” If I vote for a candidate or party despite their support of a controversial issue, am I complicit in my cooperation? Or does my support contribute to the “greater good,” the protecting and promoting of the whole community?

“We need to vote with a Catholic heart,” says Stephen P. White, fellow in the Catholic Studies Program at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, DC. “Know and love what is good, judge with prudence the best course of action to bring about the common good, and act accordingly.”
