The Joy of Advent
“By offering up joy we refuse to allow the spirit of God to be quenched,” writes author Patricia Livingston. “Let us offer it all, rejoicing, so that in the dark night of our struggling world, the illumination of love shines forth.”
Livingston believes the best preparation for the joyous celebration of Advent is to deepen awareness of God’s presence. We can use life’s many interludes of waiting “to simply be present … as we meet God in the abundance of his grace,” she writes.
