Ten Excuses for Not Praying
Why do we let opportunities to pray slip away? That’s the question Jerome Kropp asks and answers in a light-hearted, non-accusatory approach to a vital topic. We know that we’re called to pray, so what’s stopping us? Kropp writes: “It’s not just that we’re distracted, worldly, anxious people and lousy pray-ers. There’s the influence of evil…that would like to see us turn away from prayer, permanently if possible. No one’s saying it’s easy; we have our work cut out for us.”
He offers his own Top Ten List of Excuses for Not Praying — a list he developed “not through reading theology, spiritual classics, or modern psychology, but by doing them all at one time or another (OK, many times).” Readers are sure to find at least one of their own excuses on the list. Kropp does more than name the excuses, he walks us through to the other side — to praying!
