Reconciliation

Coming Home to God
Father Kenneth Brown
Read More Read Less

Why do only four in ten Catholics go to confession at least once a year? Is this because we don’t need forgiveness? Because we don’t sin? Because our notion of sin has changed? Or our notion of God has changed? Have we come to believe that forgiveness doesn’t matter anymore? Father Kenneth Brown unpacks common excuses, rationalizations, and barriers to regularly celebrating the sacrament of reconciliation, addresses the human need to confess our sins, and suggests a guide for frequency of celebration. Rounding out this Catholic Update are prayers before and after confession, an examination of conscience, and an act of contrition.
