Byron Miller, CSsR provides an explanation on the guidelines for receiving Holy Communion.At the Last Supper, Jesus gave his disciples the bread of life and the cup of eternal salvation, instructing them to “do this in memory of me” (Luke 22:19). For two thousand years, Christians have heeded our Lord’s command by celebrating the holy Eucharist. By sharing in the Body and Blood of Christ, the Mass is a meal of fellowship and unity—a communion of the faithful and with God—and a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross through which he conquered sin and death and reconciled us to God.
