“Liguori’s Sacramental Preparation Series, Your Marriage, includes important topics of interest for engaged couples to discuss as they prepare for their wedding and a lifetime of marriage. I appreciate the chapter that includes information on the four different temperaments and encourages couples to harmonize their differences and see the richness of their strengths as a unique couple.”

— Most Rev. Richard J. Malone, Bishop of Buffalo, and
Chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth.

“The Your Marriage/Tu Matrimonio program by Liguori Publications offers prayerful reflections that help couples discern God’s will while preparing for the celebration of the sacrament and for the commitment of a lifelong marriage. I am particularly grateful for the session on military marriages, which highlights effective methods for the couples entrusted to my pastoral care to foster a strong marriage. Couples using this resource will build a strong foundation of love centered on Christ and his Church.”

— Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio,
Archbishop for the Military Services

What Are Your Marriage and Tu Matrimonio?

Part of the new and exciting Liguori Sacramental Preparation Series, Your Marriage and Tu Matrimonio open
couples’ hearts to the meaning and purpose of marriage while teaching them the skills they’ll need to live as one—everything from effective communication to family budgeting. Each topic is presented by experts in Catholic marriage and family life, giving you a trusted team by your side. Tu Matrimonio is one of the few Spanish-language programs found in the market.

Everything You Need to Teach Your Marriage and Tu Matrimonio

The program’s three core components give participants a richer understanding of God’s plan for their marriage.

•  The Participant Workbook  •  The Leader Guide   •  The Program DVD

The activities, exercises, and reflection questions in the Your Marriage Participant Workbook and Tu Matrimonio Libro de trabajo para los novios help couples apply the concepts they’re reading about, dig deeper into each topic and share personal perspectives.

The easy-to-use Your Marriage Leader Guide and Tu Matrimonio Guía del Instructor walk program facilitators step-by-step through each session. The Chapter Guides are simple two-page spreads that connect the video segments from the DVD and list the key points and activities from the workbook, along with notes, quotes, and prayers.

The Your Marriage and Tu Matrimonio Bilingual Program DVD features testimonials from real couples who are passionate about their marriages and eager to share their wisdom with your engaged couples. Redemptorist Father Byron Miller, the video’s host, provides spiritual guidance for participants to use now and after their marriage ceremony.

This Chapter Is So Important, We’re Giving It Away

Does the Ring Matter? Living Outside Marriage

The benefits of living separately before marriage receive little attention or acknowledgment. With cohabitation preceding more than 60 percent of first marriages—compared to almost none a half-century ago—it’s no wonder premarital cohabitation is taken as the norm in American culture.

We understand your concerns about addressing this sensitive topic with couples preparing for marriage. That’s why we devoted an entire chapter to it in our new Your Marriage and Tu Matrimonio program and suggest you use it with all couples, whether they’re living together prior to marriage or not.

Cohabitation Chapter

Here’s how important we think this is: We want you to download and use the entire “Cohabitation” unit—the chapter from the Your Marriage Participant Workbook and the Tu Matrimonio: Libro de trabajo para los novios, the Your Marriage Leader Guide and the Tu Matrimonio Guía del instructor, and the DVD segments in English and in Spanish—whether you buy the program or not.

Living Together Outside of MarriageLike all the chapters in Your Marriage and Tu Matrimonio, the “Cohabitation” chapter is open, inviting, and noncritical toward couples—no matter the situation.

You may also find helpful the October 2015 issue of Catholic Update: >Living Together Outside of Marriage: Does the Ring Matter. Dr. James Healy approaches the topic from sociological and theological perspectives, encouraging parishes to be welcoming when cohabiting couples approach them for marriage. Msgr. Joseph Champlin offers parenting dos and don’ts as well as a list of relationship characteristics of many cohabiting couples. Sample the issue.
