Liguori Home-Town Author Barbara Yoffie to Sign “Saints and Me” Books on Opening Day at NCEA4/8/2017
Meet Liguori’s home-town author Barbara Yoffie at a book signing in our booth 1330 on the main aisle at 11:30-1:00 on opening day, April 18. Ms. Yoffie has worked as both a classroom teacher and certified religion educator in Catholic education for 35 years, and has Art and Liturgy responsibilities at NCEA.
This year the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA)’s Convention and Expo is held at America’s Center in St. Louis, April 18-20.
Ms. Yoffie is the author of the Saints and Me series of children’s books from Liguori which helps readers develop an understanding of saints as real-life heroes and heroines of faith who inspire us by their virtues to become more like Christ. These beautifully illustrated early-reader books tell the real stories of saints and connect with today’s children aged 4 to 9.
Teachers like Saints and Me because the books contain important material to complete their curriculum for teaching kids about saints such as a map and a glossary.
Liguori offers six books in each set for saints for communities, illustrated by St. Louisan Jeff Albrecht; and saints for families, saints of Christmas and saints for North America, illustrated by Katherine A. Borgatti. In the works are additional saints of the Eucharist. Each set has a coordinating reproducible activities book to reinforce the stories in each biography with fun word games, activities, and coloring pages.
Ms. Yoffie lives in the St. Louis area and works at St. Clement in Des Peres, serving on its school board and parish council. She has worked as both a classroom teacher and certified religion educator in Catholic education for 35 years. She presents workshops on a variety of topics including: seasons of the Church year, saints, creative activities, and praying with children. She is an instructor for the Paul VI Pontifical Institute and her class Is “Saints for the Journey: Mentors, Heroes, and Friends”.
