The Mission of Liguorian
The roots of Liguorian magazine are one century old. The magazine was founded in 1913 by five Redemptorist priests, who were professors in the seminary in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. The initial circulation was 500, people who had attended parish missions that were preached by the Redemptorists.
Since its founding Liguorian has been a cherished companion of Catholics. Reinforcing spiritual beliefs with inspiration and insight, Liguorian provides a fresh perspective on faith to give subscribers what they want most from a Catholic magazine. Inspiring stories, thought-provoking columns, and attractive design make Liguorian an indispensable part of your spiritual life in today’s fast-paced world.
Liguorian conveys a consistent joyful message of God’s plentiful redemption. In its tone and selection of material, it communicates a timely pastoral message to Catholics on matters of faith, Christian living, and social justice, in order to continue their conversion to Christ. Liguorian exposes its readers to the best elements of Catholic spirituality and traditions to help them navigate the contemporary world assisted by their faith.
Archbishop John Foley said, Christ preached the Word and commissioned his disciples to spread that Word throughout the world. That’s what Liguorian does today. Our mission challenges us to inspire Catholics in the faith — to fill their lives with the happiness and fulfillment that comes from learning more about the teachings of Christ.
